The
Summer Program is a
six-week-long morning academic program for elementary school children who
participate in 1:1 reading support and other enrichment opportunities. The program runs when we have
adequate funding partners to make it possible.
Teens
at Work is a summer
employment program enabling young teens to work at area businesses and
non-profits. We provide job experience, vocational training, and incentives. This program runs when we have
adequate funding partners to make it possible.
Summer
Camp is a weeklong
day camp held every summer for elementary school children. Our AmeriCorps State workers run small classes of morning academics.
In the afternoons, high school students from local churches and from our community serve together as camp counselors. They lead the children
during recreation, lunch, swimming time, and crafts as well as Bible time with skits, singing, and stories (parents who prefer for their
children not to participate in Bible time may request extra craft/game sessions instead). The camp counselors serve
together in the neighborhood for the week, sharing in meals and discussions during the evenings after camp.
